Babename & Blockprinting
This month (June 11), we will be celebrating LBGTQ+ pride! The art activity will be print making with wood block artist Nikki Jabbora-Barber! Our featured performer will be Jamie from the band babename! @nikkibarberart @babename_theband
FEATURED PERFORMERJamie Averley // babename
At the intersection of indie rock, dreamy pop, and jangly folk one finds the fearlessly vulnerable world of babename. Jamie Averley writes from the heart -- specifically the heart of a pandemic-times-baby-queer stumbling their way into a life worth living. Mildly awkward and painfully sincere, babename looks at the world through reborn eyes. With gentle wit and melody, their journal-esque overshares bring us into journey through fantasies of new beginnings, sapphic yearning, and musings on identity, power, and possibility.
FEATURED ARTIST
Nikki Jabbora - Barber (she/her)
Nikki is a gay Seattle-based printmaker and teaching artist, was born in Bellingham, WA to a Lebanese-German mother and Anglo-Swedish father. Specializing in woodblock prints, Nikki uses visual storytelling to remove the passive acceptance of accessible exoticism and redefine being a mixed race woman who is white-adjacent. Nikki widens the viewfinder for others to include her life’s intersections of gender, race, and sexuality.
A $20–$25 suggested donation goes toward supplies & the operation of this event.
