ACORN + SIDE RAIL COLLECTIVES Presents:

Open Arts Night

Side Rail is joining forces with Acorn Collective to offer a unique open arts night to the public once a month!

The event will be hosted at Side Rail Collective (in Georgetown) every 2nd Thursday of the month!

This Month:

This month join featured performer Shelby Natasha with her blend of PNW and Chinese alt-folk music for our open mic session.

Local artist and illustrator, Rebecca Ann Jordan will be leading attendees in a zine making session!! It promises to be an amazing night. We hope you can join us!!

Rebecca Ann Jordan (she/any) is a speculative artist, art teacher, and author passionate about telling stories about the natural world and exploring alien ones. Using saturated traditional mediums, their work explores humans' complicated relationships with the natural world. RJ has shown art and zines at Push/Pull, Friday Afternoon Tea, The Fishbowl, and more. In her free time she draws bugs, cuddles her cats, gardens, and makes weird stuff. See more and connect with RJ on her website.

Shelby Natasha is a Seattle based alt-folk musician and music producer. Growing up living between the Pacific Northwest and China, her music is a blend of the folk music of both cultures. Her ghostlike vocals are accompanied by the Guzheng (chinese harp) and lofi-beats, woven together with sounds collected from the natural world. Her music focuses on themes of grief, belongingness, coexisting with anxiety, and finding home in nature. She has been performing in festivals and showcases locally and around the country participating in Oregon Country Fair, Any Patch of Grass, Northwest Folklife, Portland Folk Festival, Imagine Festival, Belltown Bloom, Duwamish River Festival. @shelbynatashamusic

FAQ:

  • We'll have a guided art activity combined with an open mic! The art activity will be different each month, but expect things like watercolor, pottery, sketching, etc. While people are working on their artwork, people can also share music, poetry, or any other creative work! If you would prefer to bring your own art project to work on please feel free.

  • You're welcome to BYOB, but we will also have snacks and drinks available for additional donation.

  • We are asking for a $10 - 20 suggested entry fee to help cover the costs of art supplies, the cost of the space, and to pay our featured artists.
