Featuring fibrous landscapes—ranging from abstract to representational—the show challenges the objectifying view of land as a resource, proposing instead a view of the land as kin.

In response to the realities of climate change and fast consumption, Softer Lands highlights the power of slow craft. Artists utilize techniques such as mending, dyeing, and repurposing to explore ecological memory and environmental repair. The title suggests a softening of our own perspective and ultimately, it asks if we can weave a more sustainable future for the rough and beautiful world we inhabit.
