Softer Lands

Please submit your fibrous representational or abstract landscapes to Side Rail Collective for inclusion in softer lands. Softer lands is a show centered around the depiction of our landscape in textiles. The Artwork should speak to our relationship to the land and invoke a feeling or need for a caring relationship to the lands we live on as we struggle with the realities of human/ capitalist tendencies and the danger of climate change. Artists are encouraged to detail how their chosen materials or techniques such as, mending, dyeing, layering, and repurposing reflect the themes of ecological memory, environmental repair, slow stewardship, or resistance to fast consumption.

To be considered please only submit work that is:

  • - Completed or close to completion at 80%

  • - It comprises 80% or more of textile materials such as fabric, paper, thread, etc.

  • - Abstract or representational

  • - Depicts the whole or part of a landscape

  • - 2D or 3D

Higher consideration will be given to work that is:
